Upcycled Recycled Vintage Jewelry
by Carol Wofford.
I love trying new techniques in my jewelry crafting and pushing myself to learn new ways of creating.
I recently purchased a torch and have been experimenting with heat coloring copper.
I cut out some leaves from reclaimed copper, pickled it to get it super clean, washed it and started torching.
The results are amazing and so much fun to do but unfortunately once I put a protective coating on, the beautiful colors faded.
My gorgeous reds, blues and purples faded to bronze and gold, darn it!!
I refuse to discard anything once I finish it so I decided to turn my lemons into lemonade by weaving a decorative accent to hang it on.
I added the coral colored glass beads to compliment the colors in the leaf.
While I was in the leaf mood I also wove this open leaf with glass clusters.
Everything I make is created using recycled and upcycled vintage materials, I buy nothing new.
I get everything from estate sales, yard sales and auctions.
All my copper wire is recycled electric wire and several estate sale companies save it for me so my cost is very low.
I thought I would pass this along to the rest of the JMJ community.
