“Chomper” – Jewelry from a Primitive Beach Find

In my last post here, I asked for help identifying this unusual beach find. After all the research and input, it seems to me most likely that this is some type of a bird’s beak.
The other possibility is that it is the tooth of an herbivore. At any rate, it is a “chomper”, so I fondly named him that!
It took me a few tries to find the right materials to combine with my little find. Especially since this type of primitive jewellery isn’t what I normally create. But when I held up this combination of suede lacing and copper chain, my little beak just popped.

The richness of the colours actually highlighted the blood staining. Before that, I had been trying to downplay or hide that. It had caused a bit of a “yuck” reaction in me. But after the choice of the lacing and copper, I decided to embrace it, especially since it wanted to hang with that side in front.
I added a couple of simple rustic copper charms, and a silver-toned heart charm in the centre, just to affirm my affection.
This seems to speak to a life lesson – embracing the imperfections (the yuck) and making them part of the beauty, instead of trying to hide them.
