Copper Wire Wrapped Crescent Moon Pendant

Copper Wire Wrapped Crescent Moon Pendant

A nice woman asked me recently if I’ve ever done any crescent moon jewelry. I really love crescent moons, so I was excited to give it a try!

This piece was made from 14 gauge copper wire for the frame, 16 gauge wire for the swirls, and 24 gauge wire for the wraps.

I love the different colors in the moonstone depending on the lighting and angle!

I used a small glass bottle as a mandrel for the outer curve of the crescent and the bottle’s cap for the inner curve, forming the ends of the wires to make the bail.

I found this blue glowing light by accident when I lifted up the pendant and the light shone through it.

I formed the swirls to fit within the completed crescent and then wrapped it to secure. The moonstone was a last minute addition to replace a swirly wire star that didn’t work out.
