Sow Love, One Acorn at a Time – Acorn Jewelry
by Teri Trudel.
(Thousand Oaks, Ca)
I am from Thousand Oaks, Ca, where we are healing from the Borderline tragedy and devastating wildfires.
As everyone knows that reads this, when a beader feels helpless and doesn’t know what to do, they make jewelry.
Initially I made angel necklaces for the Borderline families, then wanted to do something related to the fires.
The Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains (rsdsmm.org) restores native habitat and protects our green space.
The fires destroyed a grove of oaks they were painstakingly reviving, among many other things destroyed.
Therefore, I designed a necklace around a symbol of our mighty Oak trees, the acorn.
This is crocheted on nylon string, using Citrine gemstone chips.
I made 15, and 100% of the proceeds will go to rcdsmm.org.
This will actually be my first time selling jewelry as well, since I’ve always just done it as a hobby.
Our community has really come together strong, spreading acts of kindness in so many ways. This is one way for me to give back.
