Brass Book Hinge Necklace

I visited my sister on the way home from a trip recently, and I mentioned I was looking for some old photographs to use for tags for my vintage repurposed jewelry collection.

She showed me a very old photo album my brother-in-law had found and offered it to me.

The photos were perfect for my collection but I also noticed the brass hinge connecting the covers.

One was missing but I pried off the remaining one and used it as a focal point for a necklace.

I added a faceted blue chalcedony to the bottom and yellow chalcedony as a drop along with freshwater pearl accents on a vintage chain.

I love the idea of repurposing non-jewelry components into my jewelry designs.
