Grandmother’s Candy Dish Before and After

Sentimental Journey Necklace
This repurposed jewelry project started off on a sad note but ended up with a happy customer. A friend of one of my friends was extremely upset when one of her cats knocked over her beloved candy dish that had belonged to her grandmother.
Not wanting to just throw away this cherished family memento, she asked if I could turn it into a necklace. A couple of the smaller flowers had broken off so I took these and the remaining broken candy dish cover.
This was a challenging project since I was not sure how I could use the porcelain flowers with other jewelry making materials. Luckily, I had just received my new Dremel tool that I purchased using the Amazon gift card I won from Jewelry Making Journal.

I utilized the saw blade to cut off other flowers and the sanding bit to smooth the jagged edges. I used copper soldering tape to attach jump rings and then hung three of the flowers and added beads to stands of waxed cotton cord and finished it with a handcrafted hook and eye closure.
