Sweet Mother & Baby

This sweet coin pendant seems to be a favorite with my pregnant customers, and those with young children. I think we all find elephants fascinating, and this design seems to show the tenderness of the Mother elephant and her baby.
This pendant is made from a coin from Malawi in Africa. I blend my own paints, and then hand paint the coin. I finish the front with a thick coat of epoxy to protect the paint, and to give it the appearance of glass or enamel.
The back of the coin has a bail glued on it and then is finished with clear epoxy like the front. The coin is a nice size, about 1 inch (25mm) or the same size as a USA quarter.
I have collected coins over 15 years, and several years ago came up with the idea of combining my passions with this coin jewelry.
