Pensée

This necklace and bracelet set was created especially for my mother for Mother’s Day 2012.
My mother loves pansies and with this in mind I designed and made several lampwork beads with a pansy theme. I chose purple and yellow for the set because these are familiar pansy colours.
Pansy is derived from the french word pensée which means thought because the pansy flower resembles a human face.
In August when they bend over they appear to be deep in thought! The name pensée also seemed appropriate because I was thinking of my mother while I made these pieces and I hope that she will think of me when she wears them.
