Rainforest Radiance

These are 2 brooch and ring sets. They were going to be necklaces, but I ended up feeling that they were better as pins. They are 3″ across, plus extra where the embellishments extend out.

The bases are 2 wooden discs that are open in the middle. I started by covering them with my animal print and botanical lace, which I am very fond of! As I started to add embellishments and “build” my little scenes with very vibrant hues, I started to see them as what a beautiful rainforest might look like – colourful, vibrant flowers of all descriptions and lush vegetation, colourful birds and wildlife, but also shadows and darkness in places, with exotic wild animals hidden among the vegetation. So that’s the look I went for.

TSummers: Rainforest Radiance 2

The first piece with the green butterfly features a recycled vintage green earring. I made the other earring into a ring to go with the pin.

The other brooch features a beautiful peacock feather. The gold butterfly is also a recycled earring, with the other one being made into a matching ring as well.
