Farmer’s Market Necklace

I made this necklace during the holiday season last year. I followed a color palette provided by a jewelry magazine as I was going to submit the necklace for consideration for their upcoming issue.

The highlight of the piece is the hand made pottery bird pendant. I saw this pendant at a gift store while visiting my hometown of Sydney, Nova Scotia last summer. It immediately caught my eye. I am usually drawn to blues and greens but there was something special about this one. The entire necklace was planned around this pendant and the color palette I chose.

I used a variety of materials including red agate, carnelian, copper colored wood beads, Swarovski crystals and raspberry colored quartz tear drops to name a few. Paired with antique brass finished chain and findings.

I was so pleased with how it turned out. I sent a picture along to the magazine for them to pre screen. I was very excited when they asked me to send it to them for further consideration!

The thought of having one of my creations in a magazine was beyond exciting. Unfortunately my necklace didn’t make it into the magazine. I still love it though and have decided to keep it for myself.
