Original Art Mosaic Pendants

As a collage/mixed media artist, I hand paint most of my own art papers. So I end up with boxes of leftover paper scraps.

This past spring I began using some of these scraps to make pendants. The process is extremely exacting and tedious; it can take me as long as a day or more just to measure and cut the scraps into tiny pieces, “audition” various arrangements, then tweeze the individual papers into position on a piece of painted wood.

Once the papers are adhered in place, I apply multiple coats of sealer followed by varnish. After a bail is affixed, I suspend the pendant on a satin cord. Then it’s ready to be offered through my Etsy shop or the gallery that carries my work.

I love making these tiny original art pieces. They’re just as fun for me to create as full size art!
