The Colours of Oman

I think these are my favourite colours! We used to live in the Middle East. One of my favourite countries is Oman. It’s is an incredible and natural country.

The Main Event
New buildings must not interrupt the natural views and materials should not compete with the landscape. The modern country remains true to it’s tribal roots. It is a breath of fresh air in this ever more crowded world.
We were able to drive into Oman from our country and did so, many times. I loved to collect old tribal sterling silver beads. I have fond memories of the Muttrah souk in the capital, Muscat, digging through huge barrels of silver. Heaven!

A matching bracelet
The focal and end caps in this necklace are some of my last pieces of Omani silver. These silver beads are passed down from one bride to the next, melted, and remelted as is needed. They’ve got so much history. I wanted to honour this piece of history and the country with natural gemstones in natural colours and continue the tradition of wearing the wealth.
I’ve used, Lapis Lazuli, Honey Opal, Turquoise and Sponge Coral with a handmade sterling silver clasp.
