Successful Selling of Your Unique Jewellery

by Lina Zielinski.
Hello, all you wonderful creative people out there.

I will not claim to know all the in’s and outs of successful selling, but I hope to share some of the things I have learnt along the way.

I have had my jewellery business for just under one year and I feel that my perseverence is starting to pay some dividends.

The best advice from experience that I can give is to never give up – and if you are passionate about what you do, you will always succeed.

Let me share with you some things I’ve discovered this past year:

Tips for Successfully Selling
Your Jewellery

  1. Arrive at your show /market stall early so you can set up with ample time without having to rush before customers start to come and browse.
  2. Start the day feeling positive. You will feel good and will be able to approach customers in a happy and cheerful manner. Remember that we are lucky to be creative and be able to express ourselves creatively.
  3. Believe in yourself and in your work, and show confidence. You will be able to confidently explain and sell your designs better.
  4. Value yourself and your work. This will enable you to set good and fair prices for your pieces, so you can sell them at a price that you ask – as opposed to setting prices that you think you will be able to sell.

  1. Be spontaneous! Sometimes I have little stories I tell my customers of how a design came about.
  2. Be generous, as what you give always comes back. I remember when a little girl was shopping with her mum and wanted to buy some earrings, but she did not quite have enough money. I let her have the earrings for the ammount of money she had. I have had return sales from this customer many times over the inital sacrifice.
  3. Don’t worry if you have a bad sales day here and there. Some customers don’t buy the first time, but if you have been pleasant and confident in explaining your brand, they may come back next time and purchase.
  4. Don’t give up! Success will occur if you persevere and have goals in front of you to achieve. There is a saying, “there can be no progress without struggle.”

Basically for me it’s all in the journey – the bumpy roads and the ups and downs that make it all very interesting.
