Star from Afar!
by Jan.
(United Kingdom)
This display is shot from an angle to diffuse the background, I used a few spotlights as well as other background lighting to avoid any shadows.
The five pointed star is laid flat on a crumpled embossed raw silk type fabric which I use at my wedding exhibitions.
The brooch/corsage is from a collection in the jewellery gift selection of my online shop.
I wanted to achieve a nice contrast with the delicate hues in the background so as not to dominate the jewellery itself.

Lovely prop

What a pretty way to add sparkle and specialness to a brooch without distracting the eye from it.
I really like the softly-colored silk – it adds a very nice touch of elegance.
And for photographic effect, I love the wonderfully blurred background behind the jewelry – a magical touch!
Lovely but would like a bit more contrast

It’s very lovely to look at but doesn’t really show off the piece to its best advantage. I think a background of a slightly more contrasting color or slightly darker color in the same family would have worked better. I do love the blurred background but the color of the star and the color of the background are too close and make me work harder to see the details of the jewelry.
Love it!

I really love your use of lighting and focus… You show the piece clearly enough to be a photo from a catalog, but the staging of the jewelry and the angle and pitched focus make the photo a piece of art unto itself. Kudos!
