Kumihimo Venetian Sunset

The minute I laid eyes on this color mix, I had to have them! I had been wandering the aisles of Bead Fest Philly for quite awhile.

There were lots and lots of beads of all different shapes and colors; but after awhile, they all appeared to be the same.

Then I saw them. The bright hues of red, yellow and orange just leaped out of the booth like a breath of fresh aire. You would’ve think that I would’ve made these beads into something right away. But I took my time. The beads just hanging on the string brightened up my office. Anyhow, it was time to create a piece with these wonderfully colored beads.

I am in love with Kumihimo! I took these color beads, I now called Venetian Sunset as these were made of Venetian glass, and combined like colors of satin rattail and started weaving.

It took me a couple, well, okay, more than a couple, of attempts to get the perfect combination. The result is what is pictured – the Venetian Sunset Bangle. I chose a simple clasp as to no outshine the colors of the beads.

The thread wrap is cotton. Again, I wanted a muted color of read so that it, too, did not outshine the beads.
