Citrine, Two Ways for Twins by Melissa - featured on Jewelry Making Journal

My twin nieces turn 18 soon and I decided to make them gifts using citrine, the birthstone for November.

One is a soccer player/wrestler and gifted photographer – it was a challenge to come up with a design that would appeal to both parts of her personality. This leather wrap bracelet brings a bit of artistic flair to a unisex design.

Her sister is a talented painter and seamstress, who loves a little flash – for her, I made chandelier earrings and a pendant using a jig. Two different shapes of citrine, silver plated wire (18 ga), silver plated findings, and leather.

I hope they will enjoy wearing these as much as I enjoyed making them!

  • Melissa, I like the idea of making necklaces to suit the interests of each of your nieces, and using their identical birthstones. A lovely way to celebrate the uniqueness of each individual twin. Both design ideas turned out beautifully, and I’m sure your nieces will love your designs.

Melissa, Your designs for each young woman look great ! I’ll bet they will be counted among their treasures.
You’ve inspired me to look at jigs and see if I can use them in my designs.
Thanks for sharing your work !

  • Melissa says:

Rena, thank you for your wonderful feedback! By the way, I packaged them in “wire ribbon envelopes” inspired by one of your earlier posts – thanks always for sharing so many wonderful ideas.

  • Melissa says:

Deborah, thank you so much for your message! I have been inspired by so many people on this site – I am thrilled to return the favor!

  • Patti says:

Hello Melissa. That is so lovely, how you embrace and translate each twin’s uniqueness. I love both pieces, but I’m writing to ask about your photography. Is that a simple, at-home set up or professional? What is the background?

    Thanks so much.

  • Melissa says:

Hi Patti, thank you so much for your message! I took the photos myself with my iPhone 8 – the background is just my dining room table. I laid the pieces out and then shot from above. Best, Melissa

  • Ann says:
