I always check the crafting area of any book store I enter with the goal of finding new (or new to me) books on Wire Jewelry Making. In one such book that I purchased a few years ago, there was a simple bangle design made using copper tubing from the hardware store and a single piece of copper wire. I’d tell you which book it was, but I’ve long since forgotten and the book is no longer in my library or I’d give the due credit to the original artist. If any of you out there knows who it is, please let me know.

The copper tubing bangle idea stuck in my head and a couple of months ago when I happened to be in the plumbing section of the hardware store and spied copper tubing, I snagged some. The tubing sat in with my copper wire unused until last week. And once I started making bangles, I didn’t stop until I ran out of tubing.

5 bangles, each with a very different finished look from the others, but all sharing the same basic framework. I can only show 4 of them here, but I think that will be enough to show how much fun it can be to work up variations on a theme.

This one looks both sturdy and has lush color.

All five (only four shown here) I tumbled in my Thumler tumbler with stainless steel shot, water, dawn dish detergent and a splash of Citric Pickle. After tumbling I rinsed them all thoroughly, dried them and then added a coating of Protecta-Clear.
