Handmade CopperClay Pendant and Bail

Handmade CopperClay Pendant and Bail

I’ve just created a jewelry item and haven’t posted it to my online shop yet.

The two pieces were created from CopperClay

One thing I love about this piece is that the two pieces were created for different reasons, and I never thought to put them together until I was cleaning my studio and placed them to the side one on top of the other!

When I returned to my studio a couple of days later, I noticed how well they worked together and had to come up with a way to join them into one piece.

I first had to drill a hole in the bottom piece, which was quite a task until I realized that my drill bit was dull!!! duh!!! I’m such a blond sometimes!!

Anyway once I drilled the hole and used 24 gauge copper wire to wrap the two together and voila! here’s the result.

I love delving into Precious Metal Clay (PMC) as well as CopperClay and BronzClay. I’m a member of PMC Guild.

Rustic copper

I love the wonderfully rustic feel of the CopperClay pieces you created here, Kathy. They are perfect together, and the wirework between them adds a lovely handmade touch.

Thank you for posting this cool example of CopperClay jewelry here!

Inspiration

Kudos to you on your design. Sometimes the oddest things can provide inspiration. (Like you setting the two pieces close together) One pottery artist I know made a sculptured piece when he saw a wavy potato chip stuck on edge on a slice of sandwich bread. That’s when I learned to look at things more simply and find design everywhere.
