Yes, wearing your pieces is one of the easiest ways (and least expensive) to advertise.

However, (and this happened to me recently) we also need to know the PRICE of what we are wearing. It sounds simple, wear the necklace, say thank you for the wonderful compliments, but if we don’t know the price points how do we sell it?

What I do now is, whenever I put a piece on I check my price list before I leave the house. This way I know the wholesale and retail pricing.

Especially knowing both the wholesale and retail. This will make all the difference should you need to “negotiate” a price on the spot for the piece.

Great business idea. I was told that from my mentors when I started making my creations. Another point to add is to remember the type of the beads you are wearing. I have found that potential customers was amazed when I tell them about the different beads used and how I decided to use them. And some have gone from potential customers to regular customers.

Wearing your jewelry

You’re right, wearing your jewelry is an excellent way to advertise.

I have found that customers often want to purchase the necklace or bracelet I’m wearing. I’ve sold several pieces this way (sometimes reluctantly). I’ve also made custom orders this way.

This happened just this last weekend at a show. I even wrote a blog post about it on my Art-Z Jewelry WoodPress blog. I always know the stones in my piece and tell potential customers about them. They’re often impressed with details like this.
