For quite some time now I’ve been wanting to create a wrapped bracelet, but as a newbie to jewelry making I admit to being somewhat intimidated.

I didn’t want to set myself up for failure. Plus I have also wanted to try working with some sterling silver, but felt that budget wise maybe I should stick to practice pieces and base metals.

Then I took an online class and learned how to forge and solder links. So I decided it was time for me to get over my fear and just do it.

So I purchased some sterling silver. Being an artist for 20+ years I know that we often learn more through our mistakes than not. So when my wire arrived I took a deep breath pulled out my torch and set about forging, texturing and soldering my links.

My links are not perfect and pristine, as I am not myself. I even made my own clasp of which I’m proud that I could do that. I see the areas I have to work on but I am very pleased with my first attempt.

I actually like to see the hand of the artist in artwork, and mine can definitely be seen in this triple wrap bracelet. 🙂 All in all I’m pleased with how it this piece turned out and will enjoy wearing it.
