Need Help Finishing a Knotted Pearl Necklace

Hi everyone. I have a problem with finishing a knotted necklace. I’ve used clamshells before, but I’m not overly fond of them, so I’m trying to use stainless steel Accu-Guards.

They’re similar to French Wire in purpose, but different in design. I can pull the thread through the end beads and knot it off, but I’m worried about fraying once the ends are cut.

I don’t want to use glue and I use silk for pearls, nylon for gemstones. I’ve read about thread zappers, but the one I tried (BeadBuddy brand, so that may be why) was useless on silk.

Also, when it comes to wire/thread guards, what is your take on knotting on the last bead? Since these are stainless steel, I’m knotting, but it could look very unprofessional since there’s enough of a space issue when passing the thread through.

On this necklace, one side is knotted and the other is not…which means I have to restring anyway.

Any tips?
