Memory’s Mirror Earrings In Sterling Silver and Garnet
by Kristine Schroeder.
(Saint Germain, Wisconsin USA)
I wove strands of sterling silver wire together with fine-gauge sterling silver, forming circles as I wove. Stitched together the circles, then used the remaining wire ends, along with garnet beads, to asymmetrically embellish the circles.
This design started with a single curving line drawn on a piece of paper.
I do not use a torch, I do not solder, nor do I cast. I sculpt wire into shapes and curves, then “embroider” the piece together for stability.
The name “Memory’s Mirror” comes from a reproduction Victorian postcard I keep tucked into a mirror in my home.

I do not teach, but…

I do not teach, but I *do* encourage. Don’t be afraid to experiment, to play. Study photos of artwork you admire, even if it’s a different discipline. One of my influences is stained glass, for instance.
Thank you Beth and Millie for being moved enough to comment 🙂
