In 1979 I was lucky to acquire a visa in order to visit my family working in Saudi Arabia. I spent 3 weeks touring different cities and took a side trip to Cairo before returning home! What a great experience.

Arabic necklace with Lapis

This necklace is made from 2 necklaces purchased in Saudi Arabia – a lapis necklace and another necklace from an antique market in Riyadh – the capital of Saudi. After many years of use, both broke. Recently I decided to make one necklace using the pieces remaining from the 2 necklaces. I love the results and wear this necklace in loving memory of this fascinating journey.
