I like to pamper my customers.

I’m always on the look out for interesting display and packaging ideas for my jewellery business.

Recently I have been investigating the whole area of “The Gift Bag”!

I want to give my customers something different, something indulgent and unique when it comes to a paper bag to wrap their jewellery purchase in.

Feast your eyes on these wonderful gift bags which, can you believe I MADE!!!

Now I’m going to share with you how I make a bag like this in just 5 minutes (Yes, FIVE!) – and how they can help to increase your jewellery sales.

Firstly, having been to the local DIY store to gather wallpaper samples for my intended redecoration project, I was left with some wonderful pieces of paper (wallpaper is VERY good at the moment!). Not wanting to waste anything in this day and age, I set to work designing gift bags from the fab wallpaper samples.

After some trial and error, I decided that the easiest and quickest way to make the gift bag is to wrap a box with the wallpaper. Any boxes from your kitchen cupboards will do (breakfast cereal and rice boxes were my favourites!)

Wrap the box as if it is a present, glueing the paper together as you go on 3 sides. (UHU type glue is best.) Leave one side of the bag unglued so that you can then slide out the cereal box to leave behind the paper gift bag.

Once the glue has set enough, fold the top or open edge of the bag inside to make a neat top edge.

Follow by punching in some holes with a hole punch, and thread through some ribbon or twine to make a pair of lovely handles for the bag. I have used inexpensive garden twine for a rustic look, and wide satin ribbon for a more opulent look.

My customers are thrilled when I give them one of these stunning bags – not only are they amazed at my customer service and attention to detail, they are surprised when I tell tham that I made the bags myself.

Note from Rena: Dawn’s site with the instructions for these bags is apparently not currently available – but here is another tutorial for them: Make Your Own Gift Bags.

I have been inundated with requests for instructions on how to make such lovely bags in 5 minutes. This led me to post the instructions on my blog so my customers can have ago for themselves. This has helped to encourage customers onto my site.

They are loving all of this added value and hopefully will be back for more in the near future.
