My husband and I had these comfortable but wonderfully worn, old denim shirts that had seen better days.

As I hate throwing things away, I look for ways to repurpose items.

I tore the first shirt apart, saving several pieces, and here’s the first cuff bracelet I made.

I posted this on my FB page, and a dear friend saw it and suggested a great idea.

So now I’m calling my new jewelry line “Faded Memories” – wearable jewelry/art made from a favorite shirt of a loved one who’s passed away, maybe some lace from a wedding dress or a christening dress, the possibilities are endless!

  1. Chris, I just love this! Such a beautiful way to recycle, and I love the embellishments you added. Also the “faded memories” idea of preserving a loved one’s clothing item as a piece of jewelry – just lovely.

  2. I love these bracelets, Chris! I love denim and lace together! They’re beautiful, and the idea that evolved is great!

  3. Irene Rossi says:

Love this idea. What sort of closure or clasp do you use?

  4. Chris Rehkop says:

Thank you, I appreciate everyone’s positive comments. Irene – I used a metal heart-shaped button closure on this bracelet, as the shirt cuff was already set up for a button.

  5. Some of the best ideas are so simple yet unique. I can see many people would love a bracelet like this!

    Thank you Claudia!
