Where to Find Good Quality, Inexpensive Memory Wire That Doesn't Break? - Discussion on Jewelry Making Journal

I’m looking for some good quality, reasonably priced memory wire. I’ve ordered from all over, but I have recently had a problem with breakage – something that I’ve not experienced with memory wire before.

I also don’t want any plating as it comes off when pliers are used to make loops.

I teach classes to beginners and it takes a lot of manipulation for the students to master the loops.

I can’t afford high end prices, but I don’t want my students to be discouraged by breakage.

Any suggestions?

  • Hi Virginia, have you checked at Rings & Things?

    hi Virginia,
I have been using the Beadalon brand purchased at Michael’s. I have never experienced and breakage. The silver plating stays on.
    I hope this helps.

I like the memory wire on Etsy at a shop called CreatingUnkamen. The wire is rigid but flexible and is priced inexpensively. They also offer a 100% guarantee. Best of all it’s made in the good ole’ USA!

Hi Virginia. I may have a solution for your memory wire problem. Go to the Beadalon web site and type in memory wire. They have round and flat memory wire, regular and heavy duty memory wire. The heavy duty wire is a heavier gauge and quite a bit stiffer than the regular wire. I’m not sure but they may also have oval memory wire. Check them out and see if they have what you need.
