Setting Myself Apart, by Jackie Locantore

I’ve been making jewelry for years, starting with using up scraps from my stained glass business.
I went through adding beads, then the beads took over!
Next I discovered polymer clay, making my own beads and other pieces. I added beach glass and found objects.
But I still struggled with the fact that unique clasps can be very expensive, and the moderate priced ones are used by so many people.
The answer? Buttons! I have a large collection of buttons I acquired over decades – shell, glass, plastic, wood, you name it I found that I can make a nice loop to exactly fit the button out of seed beads, and I can always find a good color to go with any style.
This ensures that each jewelry piece has a unique clasp, and hopefully it sets my things apart from the crowd.
I’m afraid that my joy in making jewelry far exceeds my ability to market it, but hey, it makes me so happy to see each finished piece!
