Using an Earring Finding for a Pendant by Kathleen Zaleski Davis - featured on Jewelry Making Journal

Turning something that is meant to be an earring into a pendant was kind of fun to do.

I had one silver earring finding on my jewelry table and was making this necklace and decided to add some beads to it and use it as a pendant.

I kind of like it…I used a silver metal feather, Czech glass beads, white faceted beads and two silver metal spacers.

The turquoise and red beads are simulated turquoise/howlite. I like how it turned out. I may try to use other things that are really not meant to be pendants to see how they look on other things I am making.

  • Kathy, this is such a great way to give an orphan earring a new life! And the necklace is much more interesting with its new pendant! 🙂

  • Joanne Kane says:

Very nice. I love your use of ‘the one and only’. This adds a lot of interest and your colours all complement each other.

  • Claudia Kellenberger says:

That is really pretty! I think it will go just as well with jeans, or a nice dress. Good Job!

  • Nancy Vaughan says:

Too many times an earring goes missing but how do you wear just one earring…? Make it into a pendant just like you did. What a fun challenge to find a way to give an orphan a new life. Great “new” design.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I am so glad that you like the necklace and the lone earring finding turned pendant. Not sure why i never thought of this before- I love giving new ideas to people. Thank you for enjoying my simple designs. I enjoy making jewelry so much and love hearing comments about my creations. I also give a portion of my profit to several dog rescues in my area so it’s jewelry with a purpose. Take care everyone. Have a great day and get into your stash looking for that one item that is lonely – (:
