Triple Chain Slave Bracelet - Tutorial by Rena Klingenberg

A hand bracelet is a jewelry style where a ring and a bracelet are attached together in some way.

In this tutorial, we’ll make a wire ring and a chain bracelet – and then connect them with three strands of chain:

Here’s how this hand bracelet looks on the inside of your hand and wrist:

How to Put on a Hand Bracelet

Place the ring on your middle finger, with the ring’s loop pointing toward your wrist:

Supplies:

  • A ring with a loop (from my free Wire Charm Ring Tutorial).
  • About 20″ to 24″ (508mm to 610mm) of medium-weight to lightweight chain.
  • 5 small jump rings.
  • 2 medium jump rings.
  • Medium size clasp – for your bracelet chain.
  • Wire cutter – for cutting chain.
  • Flat nose and chain nose pliers – for opening and closing jump rings.
  • Tape measure – for measuring around wrist, and measuring distance from ring to bracelet.

How to Make a
Triple Chain Hand Bracelet

Part 1: Make the Ring

We’ll start by making the ring for this project.

So hop over to my

Wire Charm Ring Tutorial to make your ring.

When you’ve finished your ring, hop on back over here to create the rest of your hand bracelet.

Your ring should look something like this:

Now we’ll attach a small jump ring to the loop on your ring.

If you’re new to using jump rings, see my quick tip, How to Open and Close a Jump Ring.

Use your flat nose and chain nose pliers to twist open the jump ring:

Then thread the jump ring through the ring’s loop, and twist the jump ring shut again:

Part 2: Make the Bracelet

Next we’ll make the bracelet part of this project.

Use a tape measure to measure around your wrist, and cut a piece of chain the length of that measurement.

(Example: For a 7″ wrist measurement, cut a 7″ piece of chain. The clasp and jump rings will add the extra length needed to make the bracelet comfortable around your wrist.)

Now it’s time to attach a clasp to one end of your bracelet chain, and a small jump ring to the other end:

So use your flat nose and chain nose pliers to twist open the clasp’s jump ring.

Also twist open the jump ring for the other end of your bracelet chain:

Thread the clasp’s jump ring through one end of your bracelet chain, and then use your flat nose and chain nose pliers to twist the jump ring shut.

Then thread the other jump ring onto the remaining end of your bracelet chain, and twist it shut again:

Part 3: Connect the Bracelet to the Ring

Now we need to measure for the three chains that will connect the bracelet to the ring.

Put the ring on your middle finger, with the ring’s loop pointing toward your wrist.

Fasten the bracelet chain around your wrist.

Now measure from the bottom of the ring’s loop to the center link of your bracelet chain:

Next we’ll cut the three chains that connect the ring with the bracelet – one middle chain, and two side chains.

Middle Chain:

The middle chain will be the same measurement you just found between the bottom of the ring’s loop and the center link of the wrist chain.

(Example: If your measurement from ring loop to center of bracelet chain was 4″, cut a 4″ piece of chain.)

Side Chains:

The two side chains will be slightly longer than the middle chain, because they will have to travel a slightly longer distance from bracelet to ring.

So cut each side chain about 0.25″ (6.35mm) longer than your middle chain.

(Example: If your middle chain is 4″, your two side chains should each be 4.25″.)

Now you should have three chains cut:

Each of the three chains will need a small jump ring:

Use your flat nose and chain nose pliers to twist open each of the three small jump rings.

Then thread one jump ring through one end of each of the three chains, so you can attach them to the bracelet chain:

First attach the shortest chain (the middle chain) to the center link of your bracelet, and twist its jump ring shut:

Then attach one of the longer chains (side chains) to the bracelet chain – about 0.25″ (6.35mm) to one side of the middle chain you’ve already attached:

Finally, attach the remaining side chain to the bracelet chain – about about 0.25″ (6.35mm) to the other side of the middle chain you’ve already attached.

Now all three chains should be attached to the bracelet chain:

It’s time to attach these three chains to the ring.

Use your flat nose and chain nose pliers to twist open a medium-size jump ring.

Thread the jump ring through the remaining ends of each of the three chains:

. . . and then thread the jump ring through the smaller jump ring you previously attached to the ring’s loop.

Then twist the jump ring shut.

Now your three chains should be neatly attached to the ring’s loop:
