I made this as a “Thank You” gift for a very sweet neighbour.

I learned a lot about patina from doing this piece. After experimenting with ammonia and salt; baking soda and water; alcohol inks, and torch painting, I finally went with just straight ammonia.

I just splashed some ammonia directly on the pendant, then left it in the fumes in a plastic tub with the cover on. After about an hour, I gave it a good thorough wash with soap and baking soda, then took 0000 steel wool to it.

I finished the pendant off with a few thin coats of spray-on lacquer.
