Lava and garnet

When I toured Iceland, I was inspired by its landscape and so asked the geologist on our trip to find some lava rocks for me to use in my designs.

When I got back home, I created a couple of designs (and I made one for the geologist’s wife).

  • Rena Klingenberg says:

That sounds like a spectacular trip, Jean! And how cool to have such ancient stones to design with! I’m sure the geologist’s wife loves having a special necklace that reflects her husband’s interest.

  • Jean Forman says:

Thank you Rena! Iceland is so amazing— volcanoes, waterfalls, geysers, hot springs, interesting villages. The lava rocks I got there are genuine, not beads! So part of the deep earth.

  • Nancy Vaughan says:

How exciting to visit Iceland and have samples of the lava to use in making jewelry. Thanks for sharing your comments on Iceland and some of the jewelry you have made with the lava you brought home from there.

  • Jean Forman says:

I love the story behind the lava—so ancient and from the earth. It can be infused with essential oil for a special scent!
