Snails Wearing Fancy Shoes

An online jewelry friend posted a photo of a bracelet she had made using round paperclips. I was definitely intrigued by the idea and asked her where she got the round paper clips. WalMart! Went to the local store and bought a package of them.

I quickly discovered that the wire used to make the clips is hard to bend. However, I didn’t let that stop me from making a pair of ear rings. I just had to work harder to make the loops to attach the ear wires. Project #1 A pair of pink wire ear rings with very small pink lamp work beads that had white dots with a black dot in the center of each of them. A small success and really cute.

Then I decided to make a necklace. I wrecked several clips while trying to figure out the best way to incorporate beads, link the clips together and hang them from a chain. But I finally came up with a solution, finished the necklace and was quite pleased with the results.

One of the funniest comments made about this necklace was it looked like snails wearing fancy shoes. Haven’t yet figured out just how to put shoes on snails but I may play around with the idea.
