Filing Stainless Steel and Titanium Wire? - Autumn Boutcher on Jewelry Making Journal

Burr cup and file

I’ve been using carbon needle files for my stainless steel wire for the last few years. While these work, they aren’t effective enough. I keep forgetting to buy the diamond files. Oops!

I used a burr cup too, which helps speed things up. Especially once I put it in the rotary tool

What do you use for filing/rounding the ends of stainless steel *(and titanium) wire?

I’m hesitant to purchase more files or burr cups without knowing what will work. I’m going to start working with titanium this year, so I’d like to make sure I’m purchasing the correct tools for both the *first* time.
