I have this amazing online friend named Mary Tucker who makes wire do absolutely marvelous and stunning things. She is one of 3 or four wire artisans whose ouvre of genius is the high bar against which I measure all of my own pieces. I haven’t yet achieved the skill and vision these artists exhibit, and it may well be that I never do.

It is ok with me though, because it means I will continue to be able to look to them for inspiration and learning.

Mary created a fab video tutorial for a woven and twisted wire bangle. I bought it from her ETSY shop Wired Elements. This choker is a modification of Mary’s wonderful tutorial, which I was able to do because Mary wants her students to feel free to modify the design and make it our own. She is an amazingly generous soul in addition to being a phenomenal artist.

This is the bracelet I made as my first attempt after viewing the tutorial.

I used 16g, 18g, 20g, & 28g round wire in both sterling silver and 14kt gold filled wire. 20 gauge twisted square wire in sterling, and 18gauge half round 14kt gold filled wire for the wraps. The fabulous end caps are ones I found at a little beading supply store in upstate NY.
