Make Your Own Postcards

by Charlene Anderson.

Why not make your own postcards to promote your jewelry business? I send out promotional postcards with each jewelry order.

I get them when VistaPrint has their free offers, so with shipping from VistaPrint they cost about 5 cents each.

That’s a fraction of the cost of a postcard stamp in the U.S.!

Charlene’s dark background
lends drama to the photo,
and really makes the jewelry
take center stage.

Create postcard pictures that people will want to keep, like Charlene’s.

For example, I often receive gorgeous photo postcards as package enclosures when I order music CD’s from indie musicians – and I always keep the beautiful and artistic cards.

However, some of their cards are in-your-face advertisements or just plain ugly – and I always wonder, did they really think anyone would keep those?

So be sure to design a postcard that’s a visual treat.

Charlene’s promotional postcards
spotlight her unique jewelry designs.

You might use either a single, very striking photo of your jewelry for the front of the card, as Charlene did in her lovely examples here, or create an artistic “collage” effect using several jewelry images.

You can further prime your design creativity by checking out some of the fantastic jewelry postcard images on Google.

On either the front or back of the card, be sure to include your website URL and contact details. Remember to proofread your text carefully when you make your own postcards, before okaying your design for printing!

Charlene’s variety of postcard designs
enables her to send
different jewelry photos to customers.

You can also use your beautiful custom postcards as stationery for:

* writing thank-you notes

* keeping in touch with customers

* jotting down information or notes for people who may become customers.

And don’t forget to use them for your invitations / announcements for jewelry parties and shows.

Charlene varies the text color
to complement the postcard image.

Finally, be sure to post a photo of your lovely new promotional postcard somewhere on your jewelry blog or website!

Your visitors will be impressed to see this evidence that you’re a professional-level jewelry artist.
