Red Twist Earrings SterlingCrystal

There is approximately 2.5 metres of Sterling Silver coiled into these compact earrings!

It is so much fun to make these beads, and I really like how they look on their own, but this time I thought that perhaps they could be dressed up. I have added red coated aluminium wire to give them a burst of colour.

In a way, they remind me of the old barber shop poles. Dangling from the bottom of the earrings are some tiny handmade artisan lampwork beads by Elizabeth Herren.

These earrings represent a new direction for me – the inclusion of a metal other than sterling silver. I’ll let you into another little secret – I don’t really like red! I just thought it would really pop against the sterling.

Amazing coils

Sam, love these earrings. They look like Christmas Ribbon candy we used to get as children.

Coils upon coils

Wonderful job of making the earrings so identical to each other! I find that’s not always easy with wire!

I love your use of colored wire here. And how the larger red wire coils are wrapped around the smaller silver coils (which are made up of even smaller silver coils).

These earrings are mesmerising – they’re almost whimsical, but at the same time kind of dramatic. Love the bright red bead dangles as a finishing touch!

Thank you!

Thank you for your lovely comments.

Lynda, I also like your association with candy – that is much better than associating with barber shop poles! I might steal that idea for my description, if I may?
