Music strings recycled into unusual bling!

Living with a musician may have an unusual advantage if you are a jewellery maker.
One day I stumbled upon a bunch of old guitar strings bundeld up on the floor in the practice room.
I picked them up and thought “Hey, they look like a bracelet!”.
And this is how it all started. I began asking other musicians to donate some old strings to me and I turned them into braceletes and rings. I think it’s only the beginning as I have more project in my mind.

They look awesome bundled up!

You do have to remember about a few things if you want to starts a similar project.
If you are using old and used strings, you have to desinfect them by rubbing some spirit over the strings or simply boil them for a few minutes in a pot filled with water.

The tiny rings are a challenge – but worth it, I think?

Also, you should know that there are many types of metals used to make strings and, unless you are sure that the ones you have are anti-allergenic, you have to inform your customers about that.
And the last thing is: your nails will be ruined! Haha! Strings are such hard and difficult material that you have to be very careful.

Good luck to everyone who would like to try and recycle with me.
