I love prayer beads. When I recently discovered pearl knotting, I decided to mix the two together and I love the end result.

Purple Mala Beads

The strands have better movement than a traditional chain link necklace. And the color of the string adds a lot of depth to the piece. Using the same string as the necklace, I make tassels.
