Is It Possible to Keep Long Fingernails Nice When You Make Jewelry?

I’m a newbie at making jewelry, and I love it!

My problem is that I also love having long manicured fingernails… but my nails are getting ruined when I make my jewelry.

Now some of my nails are actually chipped or notched in places and so is the nail polish.

Can anyone share some tips on keeping long fingernails and nail polish nice even though you make jewelry?
