How to Etch on Low Dome Wire for Wedding Bands?

I want to etch on low dome wire for a wedding band or on a domed ring.

Is there a way to transfer a design to the rounded shape, or do I just have to draw the design?

It’s on silver, so I’m not sure what will hold up to the etch for silver.
