Azurite and sterling silver necklace

This is my first piece that I’ve ever done in metal smithing.

I took a class and really enjoyed it.

I also made earrings that match.

I just love the stone in this.

The bits at the bottom of the chains are feathers I made.

  1. Wow, what striking pieces for a first metal smithing project, Kristene! I hope you’ll share more of your metalwork. I really like the organic feel of the pendant bezel, and the feathers accenting these pieces.

  2. Thank you Rena, I’m honored to be featured in your journal. I love to see what other artists do each issue when it comes out. The projects you have are fun and creative and I always learn something new from you in your articles about jewelry making and the business aspects of it. Thanks for the encouragement, Kristene

  3. I love the flowing design, Kristene! Especially the way you delicately wrapped wire around the framed azurite!

  4. Thank you. The wraps were my idea to place focus on the stone. The hammered texturing was my teachers idea. I went to Brittaney Golden Studios Jewelry School in Salt Lake City, Utah. I took her 7 hr. metal smithing class and it was so informative and fun. I can’t wait to take another class there. She’s a great teacher.
