Acrylic Beads: Are They Really Taboo?

I know that acrylic beads are sometimes a No No to people when making jewelry unless of course its for children’s jewelry. Now there are some acrylic beads out there that are so beautiful its almost impossible to tell that they are acrylic.
I find that using them in some designs with other types of beads give it more of a light weight feel but still looks really nice especially when making watches because with the weight of the watch face I find sometimes the bracelet part should be a little bit lighter.
I am just wondering does anyone else use acrylic beads in some of their designs or is it really as big a No No as its seems to be?
