Hello guys, and thank you Rena for this great website! I have had numerous inspirations just from reading articles here!!

One of those inspirations being this copper heart ring. I made it after reading Rena’s rustic ring tutorial.

I never was able to follow any tutorial exactly, I always think of my own little additions and tweaks to add. Of course, it was the same with this ring tutorial. Instead of a bead I did a wire heart and instead of copper wire I used stainless steel wire, making it a mixed metal ring.

I also hammered it using a bumpy rusty hammer, which gave it a nice texture. I tried to oxidize it using an egg but it all rubbed off but that was my fault because I didn’t seal it with anything.

And the timing was perfect, right before Valentine’s Day!

  • I love this ring, Jane! It’s always fun to see what someone makes from my tutorials – and your innovation of turning the wire part into a heart is just fantastic. Also I like the bumpy rusty hammer effect. 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing your ring with us!

Thanks, Rena! I also saw my ring in your newsletter, and that was a pleasant surprise! Thank you!

  • It’s a great piece! I like how you embellished it with the heart. I would have love to have seen it oxidized too.
