That Summer Blue Murano Glass
by Patricia Pojer.
(Somers, NY)
I am in love with Murano Glass! Designing starts with selecting a very unique pendant glass bead as the focal. I then design the rest as I go along.
Sometimes I may sketch a design, other times I just “feel” my way…which usually is more my style.
I feel as an artist, I take an oath in a manner of speaking,to play homage to the Maestro who crafted the glass beads (I like to imagine he/she created it just for me to design with 🙂
With this piece I selected a gorgeous “Reticello” Turquoise square bead. Reticello literally translated means “small networks” – and don’t forget the gold foil on the outside, truly stunning!
All other beads are Murano glass as well. I think the blue beveled squares are truly lovely and a nice contrast to the round white Murano.
I created a sterling silver necklace bar to hang all the glass beads in a vertical position.
This necklace hangs on a gorgeous Argentium .935 Silver Chain with a Lobster Clasp.
Some of my clients like sets to be offered, thus I designed simple turquoise Murano beveled glass earrings. These match the same beads in the necklace, but with sterling and gold filled spacers which give a hint of uniqueness and coordination all at the same time.
