Elephants and Opals Necklace

I love patterned metals, mill rolled with a unique repeat design.

So when I found this super elephant pattern I had to have it.

Starting with a 3 inch X 5 inch piece of 18 gauge patterned brass, I drew an elephant head to be a silhouette of the elephants.

Then found these great leaf stampings, cut my elephant, soldered the leaves and jump rings.

I painted the leaves and sealed them with a frosted sealer, did a dark wash on the elephant, then polished the raised areas.

Genuine opal beads, hand made brass beads

Set small opal cabs for the eyes and used both Aussie opals and Ethiopian black opal beads, hand made brass beads and small AB finished crystals.

LOVE the way it came to life.
