What’s the Proper Way to Insulate the Brass so that it Doesn’t Tarnish?

On several pieces I have created I’ve included brass rods, tubes, etc.

What would be the proper way to insulate the brass so that it doesn’t tarnish?

I have found that if I use lacquer, in time, the lacquer will stop adhearing to the brass.
