Two Hearts to One

I live in Point Pleasant, NJ and am obsessed with the ocean and the treasures it washes ashore. I’ve been treasure hunting for years and my house is filled with all kinds of goodies.

White and green sea glass hearts
Sea glass is by far my favorite treasure to hunt and just fascinates me so much I decided to try my hand at making jewelry. After hurricane Sandy which brought the ocean to my door(I’m half a mile from the beach) I started drilling and creating.
I have no experience and have learned a lot from various sites that post tutorials, tips and just by looking at what other great minds have created. I only just found these two pieces 3 weeks ago and decided to make my mom, who means the world to me, a pendant.
I’m pretty pleased with the way it came out since I’m still so new to this.

Rubber nosed clip(found in Home Depot) and silly putty
After seeing all the tips and tricks others have posted I’ve found what works for me.
I have a hand dremel and have found silly putty is a great way to stabilize the glass and is very versatile even when wet.
I also use a small clip with rubber on the end to hold the glass(photo included).
Using both I have found brings the vibration of the dremel on the glass to a minimum and have only broken 3 pieces of the 65 I have drilled in the past 2 weeks.
I hope my little tricks of the trade help someone else.
