Rusty Garage Polymer Clay Necklace

It’s funny how necklaces come together. Sometimes I have a vision in mind and it works rather well. Other times a slight adjustment is needed. But, honestly, most times I am creating as I go.

The subject necklace is a perfect example of that. I had intended to create a bib style collar connecting various poly clay shapes. I was having a mental block about exactly how I wanted it to look so I abandoned that idea.

The center triangular bead in this necklace was black clay originally painted the green color only. Then I added rusty red paint and decided I didn’t like it. I started sanding the pieces with the intention of repainting. As spots of black and green began to reappear, I liked what I was seeing and “Rusty Garage” was born.
