Personalized Charm Bracelets: Charmed Affections
by Dianne Culbertson.

Personalized charm bracelets like this one Dianne Culbertson
created for her daughter make thoughtful gifts.
A wonderful theme bracelet for Valentine’s Day, here’s the story:
My youngest daughter, now 23, enlisted in the US Navy.
She left for Boot Camp in Great Lakes, Illinois in November of 2008. When she got out of Boot Camp she was off to Pensacola, Florida for school.
Now she is stationed in Hawaii and will be deployed sometime this year for 7 months.
I wanted to make a charm bracelet but lacked the proper motivation until now.

Dianne’s piece is also a nice example of the rapidly growing
trend of military charm bracelets.
It all happened when I saw a US Navy charm that is very similar to a tattoo my daughter has on her back, woe is me.
Anyway when I saw this the wheels began to spin. I put that charm in my shopping cart and went in search of other charms that either represented her Navy life thus far or reminded me of her in some way.
I ended with a daughter charm, a charm for every state she has been in since her enlistment, some pink opals, pink leaves, a fairy charm.
I have also sent an email to all her friends and family members so they can send charms to me to be attached.
I left room for others to be added during her travels with the Navy and voila! Here you have it – a personalized charm bracelet that’s a memento of her time in the military.

Detail of the bracelet created by Dianne – including charms
representing places her daughter has lived
while serving in the military.
I did mine in sterling silver but they are also available in base metals, gold, and gold filled.
Enjoy!!
