Layered Protection Jewelry

I am on my final units at the New York Institute of Art and Design. I have to create my own line. I have always loved gemstones and how different stones can make a person feel.

I have studied the meanings and lore behind the stones. I have created my first three pieces and named them Layered Protection.

The set is made from Red Creek Jasper, Red and Black Agate, Honey Jade, Jet, Czech glass, Miyuki Yellow AB Triangle Beads, suede leather cord, GP findings, 24k Gold Flex Wire, GP chain. I am thinking of adding a pendant that can be added to the necklace.

The pendant will be one of the Red Creek Jasper stones wire wrapped to look like a sea turtle. The Turtle was a symbol of protection to the Druids and also the Native American Indians.

  1. I like your Layered Protection theme, plus your choice of stones and how you chose them. And the sea turtle pendant is so charming! Thanks for sharing these pieces with us, and I wish you every success as you finish up at the NY Institute of Art and Design! :)

  2. Hi Rebecca. I love your designs and congratulations on finishing up your degree. Do you know how you will package these designs or communicate to the buyer about the protection offered by these stones? I love the necklace you’ve shown here. It is sophisticated and so much more than that at the same time.

Good luck as you go forward.

  3. Love your turtle. Turtles and spirals are both interesting symbols in the journey of life.

  4. Hi Rebecca,
I’m also a student at New York Institute of Art & Design, currently doing my projects for unit 2. I think you do beautiful work and love your designs.

Thank you for the kind words. I love being able to show my designs and see what others think before I send them off to the school. I am working on my next set now and cannot wait to see how it turns out.
